Senator Shelby will offer amendment to de-fund Obamacare
U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies
. . . will offer an amendment to strike all funding in the legislation that is designated to implement ObamaCare . . .
“Anyone who believes that the government will save money by spending taxpayer dollars on a new entitlement is living in a fantasy world. In reality, our nation is already struggling to reform existing entitlements in order to preserve them . . . ” said Shelby.
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell issued the following statement regarding Shelby’s amendment: “. . . 18 months have passed and we know it means higher health care costs, more taxes, fewer jobs, and thousands of pages of regulations . . . and replace it with common sense reforms that actually lower costs and that Americans support.”
The ammendment is expected to draw fierce criticism since the Senate is controled by the Democratic Party.
The text of Shelby’s amendment:
None of the funds made available by this Act may be used for any employee, officer, contractor, or grantee of any department or agency to implement the provisions of Public Law 111-148 or title I or subtitle B of title II of Public Law 111–152.
