Obama’s recycled government credit card abuse
__________________________________________________________________
The words to describe President Obama’s State of the Union Speech are “packaged lies.”
While Obama whined that millionaires should pay more money to a bloated government, an investigation that found thousands of dollars in unauthorized purchases has been urraveled about the purchase of clothing, gold coins, flat-screen televisions, gym memberships and college tuition payments by employees at the Federal Protective Services used government purchase credit cards resulting in no disciplinary action.
The General Accounting Office released a report saying government employees use their government issued credit cards as their own personal cards, ringing up millions of dollars in personal charges.
Investigative documents obtained by The Washington Times through a Freedom of Information Act request said the California-based FPS employees used the government cards to buy, among other things, $17,000 in suits at Macy’s, $15,000 in gold and silver coins, $60,000 in tuition payments and professional memberships, and $8,000 in gym memberships.
Similarly at the U.S. Postal Service, a small handful of senior officials used credit cards to buy family members flights to Spain and Italy, purchase Apple computers and make more than 50 purchases at “adult entertainment” stores.
A USPS investigation also determined that it had failed to cancel 2,491 credit cards issued to former employees, including 53 who were listed as deceased.
In 2009, the government wasted almost $20 billion in pork projects to help Senators and Congressmen get reelected.
The nation lost at least $20 billion in the auto bailout not cycling in the lost opportunity cost and the billions that were given to the industry to retool; taxpayer money that will never be recovered.
At the Tennessee Valley Authority, an investigation found that some employees sought refunds or made balance transfers from TVA-issued cards because of fraudulent transactions — including $20,000 for United Airlines tickets and $2,500 for jewelry — which were the result of identity theft or physical theft of cards.
Solyndra who received a half-billion dollar loan of taxpayer dollars before declaring bankruptcy, asked a Delaware judge to approve up to $500,000 in employee bonuses.
We spend hundreds of billions a year in foreign aid. Most of that money is wasted and pocketed by government heads of those recipients and in another month there will be numerous new dictators waiting for the money plane to arrive. It’s quite possible that these third world dictators become rich from American aid dollars.
Why would anyone want to pay another cent in taxes when the government treats tax dollars as monopoly money or recycled credit cards?
