Bloomberg Goes Against NY State’s Original Thoughts on Second Amendment Debbie Lewis

The mainstream news is a-buzz with the Aurora, CO shooting, which, again, brings up the question of gun control. Interestingly enough, or coincidentally, the UN Arms Treaty talks come to a close seven days after the shooting occurred. If the shooting will have any bearing on the talks is anyone’s guess. However, one piece of news is more than interesting.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the police around our fair country should go on strike until the population agrees to give up their guns. Does Bloomberg remember New York’s stand on the 2nd Amendment from this country’s beginning?
In the book, The Complete Bill of Rights, the New York state convention in July 1788 proposed that the people have a right to have guns AND that the “well regulated militia” include “the body of the People capable of bearing arms” is the proper defense of a free state.
Did Mayor Bloomberg take New York State history in school…or before he took the job as NYC’s Mayor?
“As a matter of fact, ALL the states, during debates on the Bill of Rights, argued for the people keeping their arms. There were several statements made in defense of the people being armed, and for more than just hunting,” states Blood of Patriots writer Debbie Lewis.
“In New York’s Constitution from 1777 it states, ‘it is the Duty of every Man who enjoys the Protection of Society, to be prepared and willing to defend it…’ Mayor Bloomberg might need a history lesson!”
Also interesting is another article comparing many countries in the world regarding homicides and guns. What might be more interesting would be a comparison to how many of these murders were committed by people with NO former criminal record. The gun law proponents are missing, or ignoring, some major information.
Research for Blood Of Patriots on the 2nd Amendment uncovered an interesting statistic. Of the murders committed in NYC over the 2-yr period between 2003 and 2005, 90-plus percent were committed by people who already had a criminal record.
“The Washington, DC gun ban and trigger lock law was in affect from September 1976 to June 2008, when it was declared unconstitutional. Yet their murder rate averaged 73% higher during the ban than before,” says director William Lewis.
The Center for Disease Control has startling statistics about violence-related deaths in this country.
“The number one cause of violent death is unintentional traffic accidents. The next two are also ‘unintentional’ causes.
Homicide by Firearm comes in at number five with nearly 11,500. More than twice as many people are killed in traffic accidents, yet no one is trying to ban cars,” exclaims Lewis.
“The arguments of those supporting gun control don’t hold up.
If you take guns away from law-abiding citizens, criminals will still have guns!” It pays to get the facts!
