Well wasn’t that a surprise. Paul Ryan was not on many people’s short lists.
He was not on mine. I guessed the final three would be Rob Portman, Tim Pawlenty and Chris Christie. I was right on two out of three.
According to reports, Ryan was the candidate Romney really wanted. Assuming that is true, conservatives should be very happy.
The man Romney wanted as his VP was not a RINO. He was not a big spending Republican. He was not a big government Republican. The guy Romney wanted was the guy who has offered a plan to change the direction of government and has been demonized by the left for doing so.
Romney did the unexpected. He made a bold choice. Romney could have gone the pale pastel route but did not. The first Romney choice is very encouraging.
If Romney is not committed to bringing spending under control, why did he pick the guy who is synonymous with a Republican budget that turns the clock back on the Obama regime?
Why should conservatives be enthusiastic about this ticket and about making change?
Our track record of winning has not been great. We lost the Obamacare battle. We lost the spending battles. We lost the debt ceiling battle. We need to start winning.
Is a Romney administration going to move as far or as fast as I want them to? Probably not. But, guess what? I am ready for any progress.
Mark Steyn called this election the last exit before entering the death spiral. He is absolutely right about that.
If we are heading towards the fiscal cliff at 80 miles an hour, and team Romney can slow us to 40 miles an hour, I am willing to take that as a start. Particularly since Barack Obama wants us to not only head towards the cliff at 80 miles an hour, he wants us to increase speed.
America hangs in the balance. What we are doing now is not even comparable to Greece or Europe. The left is fueling America for the greatest financial implosion the world has ever seen.
We have only one chance left to stop it. We must elect Mitt Romney this fall.
I encourage everyone to join me in supporting the Romney-Ryan ticket this fall.
We can send Barack Obama and Joe Biden to the unemployment line.
